Qolorio has been designed and developed with care. We aim to provide useful, accessible and enjoyable color tools that people can use without needing expensive software or plugins.

At the same time, Qolorio is an evolving project. The website, Studio and individual tools are still under active development. Features, interfaces, calculations, content, file formats and workflows may be changed, improved, replaced or removed as Qolorio develops.

The information below explains what you should keep in mind when using Qolorio.

Development status and changing features

Qolorio is provided as an evolving website and set of tools.

Some functionality may be experimental, temporary or subject to change. A feature that is available today may work differently in a future version or may eventually be replaced or discontinued.

We do our best to maintain continuity where reasonably possible, but we cannot guarantee that the website, its interface or any individual feature will remain unchanged or permanently available.

References on the website to current functionality describe the version available at that moment and should not be interpreted as a promise that the same functionality will always remain available.

Free tools and availability

Our aim is to keep Qolorio useful and broadly accessible, and to make its core color tools available without requiring users to purchase professional design software or paid plugins.

The tools are provided on an โ€œas availableโ€ basis.

Qolorio does not provide a service-level guarantee and does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Maintenance, development, browser changes, hosting issues, technical failures or other circumstances may temporarily or permanently affect parts of the website.

We may change, restrict, suspend or discontinue functionality when this is necessary for development, maintenance, security or other operational reasons.

Saving projects, snapshots and browser storage

Some Qolorio features use storage in your browser or on your device.

This includes the active Studio project and features such as project snapshots. Other temporary preferences or selections may also be stored for the duration of a browser session.

Browser-based storage should not be treated as a permanent backup.

Stored information can be lost or become unavailable when browser data is cleared, privacy settings change, a different browser or device is used, storage becomes unavailable or Qolorio changes its internal project format.

Qolorio makes reasonable efforts to preserve compatibility, but we cannot guarantee that a project, snapshot or temporary save created in one version will remain readable or restorable indefinitely in every future version.

Project TXT, import and export

Qolorio allows projects and palettes to be exported in several formats.

A Project TXT file is intended to preserve an editable Qolorio project so that it can be imported again. Because Qolorio continues to develop, we cannot guarantee indefinite backwards or forwards compatibility with every Project TXT file.

Import and export features may also change over time.

For that reason, we recommend keeping a durable visual or code-based record of palettes that are important to you.

Current export options include an SVG Palette, PDF Brandbook, PNG Brandboard and several code or data formats containing the underlying color values.

These exports allow you to retain the actual palette independently of Qolorio’s editable project format.

If an old project file can no longer be imported in a future version, the recorded color values can normally still be entered again manually to recreate the palette.

Important palettes should therefore be exported rather than relying solely on browser storage, snapshots or an editable project file.

Accuracy of colors and calculations

We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate color values, calculations, conversions, references and explanations.

However, errors can occur and standards, browsers, devices and software can change.

Colors can also appear differently depending on the display, operating system, browser, color profile, calibration, ambient lighting and other technical conditions.

Conversions between digital color and print-oriented formats are particularly dependent on the intended workflow. CMYK values provided by Qolorio are useful as a numerical planning reference but are not a replacement for professional color management, printer profiles, production proofs or advice from a print provider.

Information and results provided by Qolorio should therefore be checked in the context in which they will ultimately be used.

Accessibility tools

Accessibility and user experience are important to Qolorio.

We aim to design our website and tools so that they are clear, usable and increasingly accessible to a broad range of users.

Tools such as contrast checking and color-vision simulation are intended to support better design decisions. They do not by themselves guarantee that a website, application, palette or other design complies with WCAG or any other accessibility standard.

Accessibility depends on the complete implementation, including typography, component states, content, keyboard interaction, semantic structure, assistive technology support and the context in which colors are used.

Color-vision simulations are approximations for design testing. They are not medical tools and should not be used for diagnosis.

Qolorio continues to improve accessibility and UX as the project develops, but we cannot guarantee perfect accessibility across every browser, device, assistive technology or individual situation.

Privacy

We take privacy seriously and aim to minimize unnecessary processing of user data.

Where a Qolorio feature explicitly states that processing takes place locally in your browser, the current implementation is designed to perform that processing on your device. For example, the current image color extraction feature processes the selected image in the browser rather than uploading it to Qolorio for color analysis.

The normal operation of a website may involve other technical information, browser storage, cookies or third-party services.

How personal data and related technologies are handled is described separately in the Qolorio Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, original texts, illustrations, graphics, designs and other creative content published by Qolorio are owned by Qolorio or used with permission.

This does not mean that Qolorio claims ownership of public standards, factual color values, standard CSS color names, historical reference systems, open-source software or other material that belongs to the public domain or remains subject to third-party rights or licenses.

Software and components made available under an open-source license remain subject to the terms of that applicable license.

Names used by Qolorio for palettes, colors, collections or creative concepts are created or selected for descriptive and creative purposes.

We make reasonable efforts not to knowingly copy protected third-party branding, creative works or proprietary naming systems.

A generated or selected name may nevertheless coincidentally be identical or similar to an existing company name, product name, trademark, creative title or other protected designation. Such a coincidence does not imply affiliation with, sponsorship by, endorsement from or ownership by the relevant third party.

Any third-party trademarks, names or other protected material remain the property of their respective owners.

If you believe Qolorio contains material or a name that infringes your rights, please contact us so that we can review the issue and, where appropriate, correct, rename or remove the relevant material.
