What are color charts?

A lot of color, neatly organized.

Color charts arrange colors into a clear visual system so you can compare shades, find useful values and copy the color you need without starting from scratch.

Some charts are based on established digital references, while others are original Qolorio color references and scales designed for exploration and practical use.

Reference charts

Reference charts collect colors according to a known system or convention.

For example, the Web Safe palette comes from the early days of the web, when computers could display far fewer colors reliably than they can today.

Modern screens are no longer limited to those colors, but the chart remains a useful piece of web color history โ€” and a surprisingly tidy collection to explore.

Old limitation. Still a useful chart.

Qolorio color scales

Qolorio scales are original color collections created to make related shades easier to compare.

Use them to explore lighter and darker variations, find neighboring colors or discover a useful starting point for a palette.

They are Qolorio reference tools, not official external color standards.

Choose the color code you need

The same color can be written in different ways.

Switch the chart between formats such as HEX, RGB, HSL and OKLCH to see the representation that fits your workflow.

Click a color to copy the value currently shown.

Same color. Different code.

HEX is compact and familiar. RGB describes screen color channels. HSL makes hue, saturation and lightness easier to read. OKLCH offers a more perceptual way to describe lightness, chroma and hue.

What can you use color charts for?

  • compare many colors at a glance;
