CSS Color Names

Standard browser color names

Find browser-standard CSS color names, search by name or HEX, and copy values you can use directly in CSS.

What are CSS color names?

Some colors come with a name already attached.

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It is the language used to control how web pages look โ€” including colors, typography, spacing and layout.

CSS also includes a standard collection of named colors such as red, navy, coral, gold and rebeccapurple. Instead of writing a HEX or RGB value, you can use the color name directly in CSS.

For example:

color: cornflowerblue;

Each color in this collection shows its official CSS name together with its color values, so you can browse visually or find the exact color you need.

Browse by color family

Use the family filter to narrow the collection to reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, purples and neutrals. Colors that might commonly be described as pink, brown, gray or another variation are grouped into the closest available family.

Not sure where a color belongs? Use search instead.

Search by name or color

Search for a CSS color by name, or start with a word such as blue, green, dark or light to quickly narrow the results.

This is especially useful for families with many closely related names.

Sometimes you know the color. Sometimes you only know it should be blue.

Need a name for a color that is not in CSS?

The CSS list is a web standard with a fixed set of names. When your exact color falls between those values, use the Color Name Finder to get a Qolorio name, the nearest CSS reference and closely related family names.
